Boston Latin School 7th grade science teacher Raquel Jacobson-Peregrino recently used the To the Moon lesson with her students to get them thinking about what it would be like to live on the moon. They examined questions such as: Should humans return to the Moon? What is the value in studying the Moon?
To demonstrate what the students brainstormed about living on the moon, they made posters. In the one above, there are two countries living in different rocket pods on the moon. These “moon homes” could quickly launch off the moon if there were any problems. Humans would be able to live on the moon because of the dome surrounding their rocket pods.
This poster imagines how you would use and store water on the moon for to support a human colony. The tanks would use a sophisticated water filtration and cleaning system. The communities would live under a protective dome and see the earth outside their windows.
