wburworkshop4.10.14This past week we invited a select group of teachers and administrators from private schools to attend a workshop on Listen Edition and auditory learning at the WBUR studios. They are all enthusiastic about how they can incorporate public radio into their classrooms. We shared with them the latest research on auditory learning and the connection between listening comprehension and reading comprehension.

We learned from them how they are looking for ways to integrate literacy into science and add more non-fiction content into their English classes.  Public radio stories are a great vehicle for this type of integration.

Using the lesson plan about the Dust Bowl the teachers saw how this compelling radio story could be use in the ELA, social studies or science classroom.

Following the one hour workshop we toured the station and met several WBUR reporters and hosts.  If you are interested in joining us for the next Listen Edition workshop  at WBUR, please let us know by submitting this form.
