William J. Luther, an economics professor, decided to incorporate NPR’s Planet Money show into his introductory macroeconomics classes. This is in an effort to circumvent how “dull” normal introductory macroeconomics classes are and he found that many students enjoyed this feature and will continue to listen to it after the class is over.

Why Use NPR’s Planet Money to Teach Macroeconomics

  • Episodes are around twenty minutes long, perfect for transit to class or a gym session.
  • Economic issues have a humorous and educational angle, easy to digest and with information not often included in an introductory class.
  • Engaging discussions through current economic debates.
