Welcome back to school! We’re excited to share the latest features and content on Listenwise and help you prep for the new school year.

  • New feature! Grading written assignments
  • Improved text complexity and ELP measures
  • Simplified student enrollment with the Class Invite Link
  • Enhanced lesson discovery
  • Time-saving lesson ideas and new teacher resources

1. New feature! Grading written assignments

You can now grade written assignments and have scores exported to your Google Classroom grade book! When reviewing student work on written assignments, there is a box where you can assign a score from 1 through 5. You can provide feedback that explains your score, notes strengths, and offers suggestions, and then invite students to make revisions. See this article for step-by-step instructions.

2. Improved text complexity and ELP measures

Listenwise has enhanced measures on audio stories to provide clearer insight into their language complexity and help you find the best lessons for your students.

  • Text Complexity Measures: Lexile Audio Measures have been replaced by Text Complexity Measures. These new measures are based on analyses of audio story transcripts and comparable to Lexile text measures. These new measures on Listenwise will help you determine which stories are best for your students using a familiar framework and scale. Learn more about the new measures here.
  • ELP Levels: The “ELP 1-3” and “ELP 4-6” band labels on Listenwise have been replaced with specific ELP levels ranging from 1-6 on individual lessons. These more precise measures will help you find content at an appropriate challenge level for your English learners. For more information, read this article.

3. Simplified student enrollment with the Class Invite Link

If you manually create a Listenwise or Lingolift class, you can now share a Class Invite Link with students for an easier signup process. The link has your Class Code embedded, so students won’t need to type it in when signing up! Learn more here.
